The Major Backflow Preventer Brands

Watts Water Technologies

Watts is one of the most widely recognized backflow preventer brands in the United States and among the most common devices we service in New Jersey. Watts manufactures a comprehensive line including the LF009M2QT (Double Check Valve), the 909 RPZ, the LF007 DCVA, and the 800 series PVBs, among many others. Watts devices are known for their robust construction, wide availability of rebuild kits, and long service life when properly maintained. South Jersey Backflow carries Watts rebuild kits in multiple sizes in our service vehicles.

Febco

Febco (a brand of Watts Water Technologies) produces backflow preventers specifically oriented toward irrigation and fire protection applications. Common Febco models in New Jersey include the 825Y RPZ (extremely common on residential and light commercial irrigation systems), the 860 PVB, and the 765 RPZ. Febco devices are widely installed throughout New Jersey’s residential communities, and South Jersey Backflow technicians are thoroughly familiar with their service requirements.

Zurn Wilkins

Zurn Wilkins offers a complete line of backflow prevention products covering PVBs, DCVAs, and RPZs for applications ranging from residential irrigation to large commercial fire protection. The Wilkins 975XL and 375XL RPZ assemblies are common in commercial and industrial installations throughout New Jersey. Zurn Wilkins devices are known for their reliability and durability, and rebuild kits are readily available. South Jersey Backflow services all Zurn Wilkins models.

Ames / Cla-Val

Ames (produced under the Cla-Val brand) manufactures compact, lightweight RPZ assemblies that are popular for applications where space is limited. The Ames 3000 RPZ is frequently encountered in commercial and industrial installations throughout New Jersey. Ames devices feature a distinctive low-profile design and are known for their reliable check valve performance. South Jersey Backflow carries Ames rebuild kits and is experienced with all Ames model lines.

Apollo Valves / Conbraco

Apollo Valves (marketed under both Apollo and Conbraco brand names) manufactures a wide range of backflow prevention devices for residential and commercial applications. Apollo devices are known for their high-quality bronze body castings and are a common choice for both new installations and replacements throughout New Jersey. South Jersey Backflow services all Apollo and Conbraco models.

Flomatic

Flomatic produces backflow prevention devices known for their durability and effectiveness in challenging water quality conditions. While less common than Watts or Febco in typical residential applications, Flomatic devices are encountered in certain commercial and industrial settings throughout New Jersey. South Jersey Backflow is experienced with Flomatic device testing and service.

Beeco

Beeco produces a range of backflow prevention devices serving both residential and commercial markets. South Jersey Backflow services Beeco devices and maintains awareness of their testing requirements and rebuild kit availability.

What About Older, Discontinued, or Less Common Brands?

Over decades of backflow prevention work throughout New Jersey, we’ve serviced devices from virtually every manufacturer that has produced them — including older models from discontinued product lines. If you have a device from an older manufacturer or an unusual model, contact us with the brand name and model number and we’ll confirm our serviceability before scheduling a visit. In many cases, devices from discontinued manufacturers use industry-standard internal components that are still available.

Which Brand Should I Choose for a New Installation?

For new installations, South Jersey Backflow recommends devices based on the specific application, local water authority acceptance, and the device’s suitability for New Jersey’s climate conditions. For most residential irrigation applications, we recommend Watts Febco or Zurn Wilkins PVBs or RPZs based on proven performance in the NJ market and excellent rebuild kit availability. For commercial applications, we recommend the device that best matches the hydraulic requirements, installation space, and local authority specifications for your specific situation.
