Water Authority Serving Somerset County
NJ American Water (Raritan System)
NJ American Water’s Raritan system is confirmed as the primary water authority for all 21 Somerset County municipalities. Annual test reports for all NJ American Water Raritan system customers must be submitted to NJAW.CrossConnection@amwater.com or 848-232-8309. Franklin Township Water Utility (Exception)
Franklin Township operates its own water utility at 40 Churchill Avenue, Somerset, NJ 08873 (732-249-7800; emergency 732-873-5533) for portions of the township. The township also has a Franklin Township Water Authority District #2 (Ripley Water Board). Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage Authority (SRVSA)
The SRVSA (established 1958) provides secondary advanced wastewater treatment for Branchburg, Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Manville, Raritan, Somerville, and Warren Township — a 23.0 MGD system discharging to the Raritan River. While the SRVSA is primarily a wastewater authority, it coordinates with water system compliance in these municipalities.
Middlesex County Utilities Authority (MCUA)
The MCUA handles wastewater for Bound Brook Borough, Franklin Township, and South Bound Brook Borough — three Somerset County municipalities served by the MCUA’s regional interceptor to the Edward J. Kerr Central Treatment Facility.
