Water Authorities Serving Ocean County — Who We File With

NJ American Water (Coastal North System)

NJ American Water’s Coastal North system is the dominant water authority for Ocean County, serving Toms River, Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach, Lavallette, Seaside Heights, Seaside Park, and many other communities. Annual test reports must be submitted to NJAW.CrossConnection@amwater.com or 848-232-8309.

Municipal Utility Authorities

Ocean County has a significant network of municipal utility authorities providing water service independent of NJ American Water: Brick Township MUA, Lacey Township MUA, Lakewood Township MUA, Little Egg Harbor MUA, Stafford Township MUA, and Jackson Township MUA each operate their own water distribution systems. South Jersey Backflow files directly with each MUA.

Veolia Water Toms River (formerly Suez)

Portions of Toms River Township and surrounding areas are served by Veolia Water Toms River (formerly Suez Water New Jersey). South Jersey Backflow files directly with Veolia Water Toms River for all applicable properties.

Long Beach Island Water Systems

Long Beach Island’s communities — Barnegat Light Borough, Harvey Cedars Borough, Surf City Borough, Ship Bottom Borough, Beach Haven Borough, Long Beach Township, and others — are served through the Long Beach Island regional water infrastructure with OCUA (Ocean County Utilities Authority) handling wastewater. South Jersey Backflow provides seasonal property programs for all LBI communities.

Ocean County Seasonal and Shore Property Program

Ocean County’s extensive seasonal property inventory — from Long Beach Island’s thousands of seasonal homes to the Barnegat Bay communities of Lavallette, Ortley Beach, and Seaside Park — creates unique annual compliance challenges. South Jersey Backflow’s seasonal shore property program provides: pre-season spring startup testing; winterize your backflow preventer for fall winterization; owner-absentee filing with direct water authority submission; and property management portfolio programs.
