Water Authorities Serving Warren County — Who We File With

NJ American Water (Washington System)

NJ American Water’s Washington System serves both Washington Borough and Washington Township (Warren County) from three wells: the Vannatta Street well in Washington Borough and the Dale Avenue and Changewater Road wells in Washington Township. Annual test reports must be submitted to NJAW.CrossConnection@amwater.com or 848-232-8309.

Hackettstown MUA (Warren County Pequest River MUA)

The Hackettstown MUA — drawing from the Pequest River system — is the primary water authority for Hackettstown Town and adjacent portions of Allamuchy Township, Independence Township, and Mansfield Township. Annual test reports are submitted to the Hackettstown MUA.

Municipal Water Departments

Phillipsburg Town (Delaware River source), Town of Belvidere, Alpha Borough, Lopatcong Township, Pohatcong Township, and Oxford Township each operate their own water departments. South Jersey Backflow files directly with each.

Private Wells — Predominant in Rural Warren County

The majority of Warren County’s rural townships — Blairstown, Franklin (Warren), Frelinghuysen, Greenwich (Warren), Hardwick, Harmony, Hope, Knowlton, Liberty, Mansfield (partial), and White — are primarily served by private well systems. For any public water connections in these townships, South Jersey Backflow files with the applicable authority.
