Trenton Water Works (TWW)

Trenton Water Works — drawing from the Delaware River at Trenton’s intakes, treating water at one of New Jersey’s oldest water treatment facilities (200+ years of continuous operation), and distributing to 683 miles of water mains serving approximately 225,000 customers — is the dominant water authority for Mercer County. TWW directly serves Trenton City and wholesale customers including Hamilton Township, Ewing Township, Robbinsville, and others. TWW operates under NJDEP oversight and enforces cross-connection control under N.J.A.C. 7:14B. Annual backflow test reports for TWW customers must be submitted to Trenton Water Works. South Jersey Backflow maintains current TWW cross-connection filing protocols.

NJ American Water (Raritan System)

NJ American Water’s Raritan system serves Lawrence Township, West Windsor Township, East Windsor Township, Hopewell Township, Hopewell Borough, Pennington Borough, and portions of other Mercer County municipalities. Annual test reports must be submitted to NJAW.CrossConnection@amwater.com or 848-232-8309.

Princeton Public Utilities

Princeton operates its own Public Utilities Department providing water service to Princeton’s residential and commercial properties. The Princeton water system enforces cross-connection control under N.J.A.C. 7:14B. South Jersey Backflow files directly with Princeton Public Utilities.

Aqua NJ

Aqua NJ serves portions of Mercer County, particularly in some East Windsor and Robbinsville areas. South Jersey Backflow identifies the applicable authority for each Mercer County address.

Hopewell Township Utility Department

Hopewell Township operates its own water utility for portions of the township including the Washington Crossing Estates service area (approximately 105 customers, 2 wells). Annual test reports for Hopewell Township utility customers are submitted directly to the township.
