Hainesport Febco 765 backflow testing

This week we repaired and certified several Febco 765s for a Home Owner Association in Hainesport, New Jersey. It was 15 sprinkler zones in all. Here are the Febco 765 PBA inspection and certification procedures.

The following are general procedures that a licensed plumber or backflow specialist may follow when fixing and testing a Febco Model 765 backflow preventer on a sprinkler system:

  1. Turn off the water supply: The first step in any backflow preventer repair is to turn off the water supply to the system and release any remaining pressure.
  2. Disassemble the backflow preventer: The plumber or specialist will disassemble the Febco Model 765 backflow preventer and inspect each component for damage, corrosion, or wear.
  3. Replace damaged or worn components: Any damaged or worn components, such as check valves or relief valves, will be replaced with new ones to ensure the backflow preventer is functioning properly.
  4. Clean the backflow preventer: The plumber or specialist will thoroughly clean each component of the backflow preventer to remove any debris or buildup that could interfere with the device’s function.
  5. Reassemble the backflow preventer: Once all necessary repairs and cleaning are complete, the backflow preventer will be reassembled.
  6. Test the backflow preventer: The backflow preventer will then be tested to ensure it is functioning properly and is in compliance with local codes and regulations. The test may involve using a differential pressure gauge to check the pressure drop across the device, as well as checking for leaks or other signs of malfunction.
  7. Submit testing results: The plumber or specialist will then submit the results to the local water authority or other relevant regulatory agency, as local regulations require.
